Alternative Business Structures: Opportunities and Risks for Legal Practitioners

Tuesday 12 July 2011

Westminster, London

The Legal Services Act 2007 contained many ground-breaking reforms with potentially major implications for the Legal Services sector. Perhaps most contentiously was the provision within the Act for the creation of Alternative Business Structures (ABS), allowing Britain’s 10,000 law firms previously unheard of financial and corporate freedom which will create the most deregulated legal services sector in Europe.

Alternative Business Structures: Opportunities and Risks for Legal Practitioners will look into what the implications of ABS are for legal professionals from the full spectrum of the sector, and the opportunities as well as challenges that it presents. With implementation possible from October, the day is ideally timed to consider the latest developments and initiatives for all legal professionals and will be fully CPD certified.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Eddie Ryan, Managing Director, Co-operative Legal Services

  • Des Hudson, Chief Executive, Law Society

  • John Llewellyn-Owen, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, Espirito Santo Investment Bank

  • Neil Rose, Editor, LegalFutures.co.uk
