We are delighted to invite you to a half-day conference on Tuesday 22nd March, 1.30-4pm at New College, University of Oxford to launch the findings of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded study of Anti-Social Behaviour and the Courts in England and Wales.
The conference will disseminate findings from the project which involved the study of anti-social behaviour cases in magistrates’ and county courts, as well as interviews with practitioners in seventeen anti-social behaviour units across England and Wales. The research team is lead by Dr Jane Donoghue at the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford and Sarah Colover at the School of Law, University of Reading.
The conference will be of interest to anti-social behaviour practitioners, academics, solicitors, judges and policy makers as well as community groups and other interest groups and stakeholders. The conference is particularly timely given the Government’s recent announcement of its intention to ‘streamline’ the approach to anti-social behaviour by replacing the current system with new measures as well as launching a consultation on these plans.
It is intended that the conference will be an opportunity to find out more about the research findings but it will also be a chance for practitioners, policy makers and other stakeholders to meet and discuss recent developments in the field, as well as to share ideas about best practice and the way forward for the anti-social behaviour agenda.
The conference will be held in the McGregor-Matthews room in New College, University of Oxford. Please follow the link for directions http://www.new.ox.ac.uk/content/about-new-college/maps-and-directions/directions-and-maps. Registration will take place in the Junior Common Room (JCR) from 1.30-2pm and tea and coffee will be served. A hard copy Report of Findings will be provided to all attendees.
Please note that parking is not provided in the College, but can be arranged in exceptional circumstances. We are sorry but the room does not have disabled access.
Attendance is free but places are strictly limited. If you wish to attend please RSVP Sarah Colover
