CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS AND WORKSHOPS

 

The Newport Centre for Criminal and Community Justice is holding its fifth one day conference on:

Friday 24th April 2009

University of Wales, Newport

Caerleon Campus

 

Title: ‘Are There Links Between Drugs, Alcohol and Violent Crime?’

 

The conference will provide an opportunity to hear presentations and attend workshops by academics, policy makers and practitioners in this important field.

Call for Papers and Workshops

Papers and workshops (either or both) are invited from academics, policy makers and practitioners. The organisers will consider theoretical, policy and practice-based contributions in the following areas:

  • The extent of possible links between drugs, alcohol and violent crime

  • Are these medical, social or criminal problems?

  • Policy and practice-based responses

  • The range and effectiveness of such approaches

  • The role and impact of multi-agency working 

 

Abstract guidelines:

Proposals should be titled clearly and be a maximum of 250 words. Please submit via hard copy or email by 30th November 2008, also include:

  • Proposer’s name and contact details

  • Job title or role

  • Indication of whether abstract is submitted for a paper, workshop or both

 

Electronic copy of papers and workshops must be supplied to the organisers two weeks prior to the conference date.
