The House Magazine, written for and by Parliamentarians is to hold one of its regular Westminster Briefings which aims to provide a forum for practitioners, local policy makers and civil servants to debate key issues with leading figures from within Westminster, Whitehall and Local Government. In view of the importance of the subject, on this occasion we present a full one-day conference.
The Context
2010 represents an important year for Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships. Tightening finances and the recent rise in acquisitive crime present significant challenges at a time when new developments such as the statutory duty to reduce reoffending and the policing pledge need embedding. This is against the backdrop of a general election with the potential to change the community safety agenda for the next 5 years.
The Issues
Engaging with the panel throughout, some of the key issues to be touched upon will include:
- Developments for CDRPs in 2010 and potential future directions
- Improving public participation in community safety planning and working
- Using resources across a partnership efficiently
- A statutory duty for CDRPs to reduce reoffending
- Neighbourhood Policing – where we are and where we’re going
- CDRPs under a potential Conservative government
The Event
Participants at this Westminster Briefing Conference will spend the day discussing current developments affecting Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships. Examining the issues that affect their day to day work, delegates will look at the future for CDRPs in 2010 and beyond.
