In September 2006 the criminology subject group set up a Hallam Criminology Society, available to students at all levels and routes at Sheffield Hallam University. All events are organised by the students in the Society to help build working relationships with their peers, to expand their management skills and to support the leaning and teaching of their discipline. Events include guest lectures on areas of criminal justice to act as career guidance, structured visits to the local Crown and Magistrates Courts, contact with South Yorkshire Police in relation to voluntary work in the community and social events.
Membership is free, and subscription allows privileged access to the Society website. The benefits of such involvement are numerous, not only to the successful development of criminology related studies (both undergraduate and postgraduate), but such extra curricular activity looks great on a CV!
