A clarification: ACPO position on Data Communications

Following media reports over the weekend, ACPO wishes to make clear that its position on communications data, their impact on criminal investigations and the challenge to that posed by globalisation of telecommunications, is set out in the statement made by the President on 15th October which can be found here:

www.acpo.police.uk/pressrelease.asp?PR_GUID={7B3A6DAA-1DEE-4DA4-ADEC-20275F39B22A}

Jack Wraith, quoted in association with ACPO over the weekend, is not a member of ACPO. Mr Wraith represents the interests of industry groups on the Data Communications Group, an ACPO committee bringing together telecommunications stakeholders. The views expressed by Mr Wraith were as the head of that trade association and not as a member of ACPO.
