NOMS finalists triumphed in three categories at the Justice Awards 2009. Dave Asker, Head of Learning and Skills at HMP Wandsworth, won the individual Working with Offenders Award, and HMP Brixton's Diversity Team came top in the Commitment to Diversity team category. Kent Probation, the Children and Families Enterprise Project was named the winner in the Working with Offenders team category. Additionally, all remaining NOMS finalists were highly commended at the ceremony in London on Tuesday. NOMS Director General Phil Wheatley said: "I would like to congratulate all the NOMS winners and highly commended finalists for their success at this year's Justice Awards. This recognition for their excellent work in reducing reoffending and protecting the public is well deserved." Justice Secretary Jack Straw said: "The Justice Awards allow us to share inspiring examples of how justice is being done. By celebrating excellence in the work of staff and volunteers we share best practice; improve our service to the public; and raise confidence and trust."

Carl Clements, HMYOI Feltham - Tackling Youth Crime (individual award)
Liam Maidment, South Wales Probation - Working with Offenders (individual award)
Morina Pierre, HMP & YOI Chelmsford - Commitment to Diversity (individual award)
Martin Barrett, Kent Probation - Volunteer of the year (individual award)
Christine Noon & Dermot Brady, London Probation - Working with Offenders (team award)
Female Offenders, the Education, Training and Employment Team, Dorset Probation - Commitment to Diversity (team award)
Community Domestic Abuse Programme, Kent Probation - Partnership of the year (team award)
Radio Production, Broadcasting & Journalism Team, HMP Liverpool - Working with Offenders team award
