Contexts and Issue in the Implementation of Effective Practice in the Probation Service

 

The publication traces the emergence of "What Works" thinking through the HMIP "What Works" project to the implementation strategy launched in 1998, the publication of Evidence Based Practice and beyond to pathfinders Crime Reduction Strategy and other initiatives up to the end of 1999. Also contains chapters on Government strategy for criminal justice and public sector modernisation. Many examples from practice.

 

This publication is part of the Community and Criminal Justice Monograph Series, edited by Brian Williams, Hazel Kemshall, Gwyneth Boswell, Herschel Prins, Gill Mackenzie and Mike Semenchuk.
