The Intensive Alternatives to Custody (IAC) pilot programme ran from 2008-09 to 2010-11 to test the use of intensive community orders to divert offenders from short-term custodial sentences.
This report presents the main findings from a range of research that was undertaken to examine the use of IAC orders as a viable alternative to custody, and to explore the lessons that can be learnt from the pilots.
